The results after surgical treatment for tears of the meniscus in 4 9 knees were studied. The mean follow-up time was 4.3 years, with a range from 0.5 to 14.3 years.
Seventy-nine per cent of the patients were classified as having either excellent or good results. The factors associated with poor results were an age over 40 and lesions of the cartilage at operation. There was no difference of results between meniscectomy and meniscus repair statistically in this study.
