Physico-chemicl parameters and movement of fishes were studied in two oxbow lakes in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia to develop fishery reserve system. Sediment porosity was measured for evaluating vertical connectivity and lateral and temporal connectivity was deducted by the linkage of water level change with additional water quality parameters. The sediment porosity in the oxbow lakes varied between 64% and 85% and indicated different patterns among floodplain and oxbow lakes. Water temperature pH, dissolved oxygen, ORP and turbidity were correlated significantly with water level. Fish movement between floodplain and oxbow lakes appeared to be controlled by more complex factors.
