Abstract
One of the authors has discovered the anesthetic effect of YAG laser on the exposed teeth. The outline of this technique is as follows: First of all the patient's tooth is exposed repeatedly to short pulses of YAG laser of low energy with feeling of no pain until it becomes completely insensitive to the laser shot and an anesthetic effect on the tooth for dental treatment is thus obtained without any damage to the pulp. In this stage it is possible to increase the laser energy in each pulse of the laser on the tooth without any sense of pain. Thus the dose of the laser energy in each pulse of the laser shot on tooth can be rased step by step and the anesthetic effect on the tooth can be confirmed. Recently the authors discovered that low power argon laser also has an anesthetic effect on exposed teeth.
