Abstract
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) using hematoporphyrin derivative (HpD) has been performed in cancer cases in our department since 1980. Generally HpD was administed intravanously, after injection of HpD skin photosensitivity occurd. So the patients should stay in shaded parts in the hospital during the day for about four weeks. Recently, in order to avoid such side effects local injections of PDT were performed in the outpatient department. The lesion was photoradiated 72 hours or more after intratumor injection of 1.0 mg HpD. A metastatic skin cancer from the breast, a basal cell cancer of the nose and two lung cancers were treated by this method.
