Abstract
We performed histopathological study of 10 resected specimens of esophageal cancer after photoradiation therapy. After LASER irradiation as the condition of 300~500mW for 5 minutes/cm2, the specimens revealed that the depth of necrosis reached submucosal layer in all cases (8/8). So, I was sure PRT could kill the cancer cell off within Mucous layer. For 3 or 4 days after PRT, the wall of esophagus got thick and edematous. Mediastinitis and hydrothorax could be seen. At the case after radiological irradiation (7, 340rad), the LASER ulcer could not heal up and perforation into aorta was happened. We must do PRT carefully to the esophagus after radiological irradiation.
