According to the statistics on carcinoma of colon by age group by various previous investigators, incidences of 21-30 years age group occupies approximately 3-5% of the total incidences. Scrutinizing past literatures in this country, not less than 25-26 operated cases were found reported since 1930. From the above percentage, it should not be regarded as rare. Inspite of the abeVe facts, in the majority of the cases, the discovery of carcinoma was delayed due to relatively young age of the patients, thus the prognosis was rendered unfavorable. Consequently, the above facts are indicating that further studies on this problem should not be neglected.
Recently, the author treated a case of mucoid carcinoma of sigmoid flexure of 21 years old unmarried female. The carcinoma was an adeno-carcinoma growing annularly and caused intestinal obliteration within the course of 1 week. Favorable result was obtained by primary resection and tip-to-tip anastomosis without recurrence for 1 year after the operation.
In the present paper, the case is. described and discussed comparing with adult cases and simultaneously the author stressed the necessity of early discovery and early operation in these cases.
