Abstract
1. The toxicity of 1-chloro-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid (COP) is extremely low.
2. When higher concentrations of COP were administered, no significant effects on, the blood pressure and the respiration of rabbit were observed, however the cardiac pulse was enhanced moderatelly.
3. The slight inhibitory effect on the pulse and the moderate contraction on the coronary artery were observed in the isolated heart preparation of rabbit.
4. The moderate contraction of the peripheral vein of rabbit was observed.
5. No appreciable effect was observed on the movement of the isolated smooth muscle preparation (ileum, uterus) of rabbit.
