One kind of non-mannitol fermenting Shigella sonnei was isolated. Its characters were investigated biochemically and immunologically. Sensitivity to various antibioticus was measured.
No difference was noticed from mannitol fermenters, except that it cannot utilize mannitol. It was found a rare case to experience such a strain in Japan.
Possibility of outbreak by this king of organism in Japan was discussed from the literal point of view.
