Abstract
Human hemoglobin has been separated to adult hemoglobin (Hb-A) and fetal hemoglobin (Hb-F) by Betcke's staining method and alkali method, modified by Singer.
In this paper Hb-F, obtained from 460 cases, including normal pregnant women, labor, puerperal women, abnormal pregnant women with various tocological diseases and fetuses, was studied according to the methods, described above.
In addition of this, both hemoglobin and erythrocytes, obtained from umbilical vessels of pregnant women, were also investigated, in order to observe if they correlate with grade of fetal growth.
As the results, the following relations were provided ;
1) The amount of the Hb-F related in inverse correlation with fetal weight, heigh and maturation period
2) Both hemoglobin and count of erythrocytes related in direct correlation with fetal weight, heigh and maturation period.
