抄録
A recent research of mechanical circulatory support device for extracorporeal pump oxygenator, named Emergency Life Support System (ELSS) designed in the University of Tokyo, is reported in this study. A newly developed Sequential Flow Pump (SFP) that has proper hydraulic performance against the high-pressure loss by thin catheter is expected to be involved to ELSS. The pump principle is similar to the multistage centrifugal pump. The blood is given static pressure by two times of centrifugal forces in the pump room. One of the advantages of SFP is that it operates in relatively low rotation in the same impeller diameter as a centrifugal pump that realizes low shear stress for the blood.
