Abstract
Shock wave has been applied to medical treatments including those targeting soft tissues. In previous studies, integration of epithelial cell barrier was demonstrated to be temporarily disrupted after shock wave irradiation. However, it is still obscure how far shock wave can target other cell barriers in other soft tissues. In this study, cell barrier disruption was observed with endothelial cell barrier. Time course of Trans Epithelial Electrical Resistance (TEER) suggested that shock wave temporarily disrupted integration of endothelial cell barrier. Furthermore, fluorescent dye transmission experiments suggested that shock wave disrupted cell barrier only at focal region of shock wave irradiation.
