Abstract

Pulse transit time (PTT) includes information of blood pressure and peripheral vascular regulations. Therefore, some study reported that PTT was used for diagnose of the autonomic function of patients. Recently, pulse wave can be extracted from the change in skin color tone of face or palm video image which obtained by color camera. But, unlike face and palm, it is difficult to extract the pulse wave in the site which has little arterioles or capillaries (e.g. back, arm and leg). The aim of this study is to extract pulse wave at such undesirable conditions by using singular spectrum analysis which is signal decomposition method. In result, the correlation between PPG from contact sensor and extracted pulse wave by proposed method significantly improved about 15% in comparison with band pass filter. This result suggests the possibility of measurement in various skin areas by proposed method.
