Asbestos has excellent tensile tolerance and flexibility, and was once called a miracle mineral due to its diverse features such as its noncombustible nature, hard face insulation, and inexpensive price. However, there has been recognition for the toxicity of asbestos. More than 90% of asbestos was disposed with landfilling, one of legal disposal method, in 2009. There is no waste asbestos treatment facility in capital area so that secondary problem occurs including lack of landfill area and regional imbalance of treatment facility. In this study, lab-scale melting test was conducted for waste containing asbestos to identify if asbestos can be destroyed safely when waste asbestos is added to melting process at any melting plant with municipal waste.
