In Malang city, Indonesia, the Waste Bank, also called Bank Sampah Malang (BSM), was launched in November 2011. In this paper, a survey was conducted by sending questionnaires to 190 households in Malang city. The inconvenience of BSM were investigated through interviews with the BSM participants. The score of inconvenience for many types of resource items to separate from their waste was the highest. Therefore, reducing the number of categories of BSM resources would be an efficient improvement to increase the numbers of households participating in the BSM. The composition of waste generated from the respondent households and the resource separation rate were investigated. The total waste generation was 294 g/person/day and the resource separation rate was 91%. As a future study, the investigation should be conducted toward moderately active households for the resource separation to find factors influencing the resource separation behavior.
