To obtain a heating value of clinical waste, heat balance of an industrial waste incineration plant was estimated. Firstly, chemical composition of combustion gas of incinerator exit was calculated by considering the composition of stack emission gas and the amount of spraying cooling water. Then the heat generated in the incinerator furnace was calculated by considering the composition, temperature and specific heat of the combustion gas of incinerator exit. The lower heating value (LHV) of incinerating waste (sum of industrial waste and clinical waste) was estimated to 24200 kJ/kg-wet. LHV of the industrial waste was measured and the value was 30370 kJ/kg-dry. Then, LHV of the clinical waste was estimated by subtracting the heat generated by combustion of the industrial waste from that generated in the incinerator furnace. LHV of the clinical waste was estimated to 22780 - 33680 kJ/kg-wet.
