Abstract

Currently, the problem of waste plastics is of increasing interest in Japan, and has become an important issue for the construction of a "recycling-oriented society." In addition, Japan's declining birthrate, aging population, and accelerating regional uneven distribution of the population are having a serious impact on efforts to protect the environment. Therefore, it is required to improve the efficiency of garbage collection and the sophistication of recycling.

In this report, we investigated papers on the current status of smart trash bin usage in various countries, focusing on the status of garbage collection and sorting, and summarized the usage status and issues in Japan. In addition, we conducted on-site surveys and hearing surveys at sites where business-related general waste was discharged, and based on the results of these surveys, we designed and tested a rational sorting method verification experiment according to the recycling method.
