Abstract

The construction industry consumes a vast amount of resources and generates a large amount of waste compared to other industries, and thus has a significant role to play in one of the goals of the SDGs, "Responsibility to Create and Use". Currently, construction sludge, one of the wastes generated by the construction industry, is recycled as soil materials such as backfill and backfill material by solidifying and granulating it through calcination and melting processes. In this study, we proposed a carbon dioxide fixation technique called aeration curing as an effective recycling process for improved soil, which is made by dewatering construction sludge, and analyzed its characteristics. Aeration curing enables recycling of improved soil by neutralizing the pH of construction soil through the reaction of atmospheric carbon dioxide and calcium hydroxide. Aeration curing tests were conducted to analyze the characteristics of aeration curing. The amount of carbon dioxide fixed was also calculated by comparison with the theoretical equation.
