Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic that led to noticeable changes in people’s mobility and lifestyle in Tokyo urban area inevitably affected the combustible MSW generated in Tokyo special ward district (SWD) in terms of quantity and quality. As a result, WtE power production performances among MSW incinerators in Tokyo SWD became somewhat different from those before the outbreak of the pandemic.

This study provided a quantifiable evaluation of the impacts COVID-19 had on WtE power production performances in Tokyo SWD, by making comparison between the behavior of relevant valuables during Period A (FY2012-19) and that during Period B (FY2020-22).
