Japan’s annual average temperature is rising at a rate of 1.19℃per 100 years, so the climate is changing dramatically. The number of yearly occurrences of intense rain (rain of 80 mm per hour or more) is also increasing. With the progress of global warming, the frequency of short duration heavy rain is predicted to further increase, so as the risk of wind and flood damage and landslide disaster occurrence. In recent years, inundation damage has frequently occurred in river basins of urban areas such as Fukuoka floods in 1999 and 2004 and Tokai floods in 2000. In addition, some reservoirs that were used to control flooding disasters were demolished to open space for urban land development. In order to reduce flood damage, it is necessary to take both hard and soft measures. Therefore, more detailed studies on the phenomenon are needed. So in this study, we conducted run up and drainage system simulation using structured and unstructured grids, respectively, and compared them in terms of accurancy and computational soft.
