This paper presents a computational method for dislocation-precipitate interactions. The computational method enables us to simulate the dislocation interaction with an arbitrary shape of precipitate. The stress field generated by the precipitate due to the lattice mismatch between the matrix and precipitate is calculated by the s-version finite element method (S-FEM). Owing to the remarkable advantage of S-FEM, the effort for the finite element modeling of precipitate is drastically recused. The stress field is then implemented into the dislocation dynamics (DD) simulations. The numerical results of the DD simulations are compared to an existing theoretical solution, showing that the stress field can be accurately calculated by the S-FEM, and the dislocation-precipitate interaction can be performed by the combination of the S-FEM and DD method.
