A structural analysis method based on the eXtended FEM (XFEM) is proposed for the efficient modeling of thin-walled cracked structures. The method employs 4-node shell and 8-node continuum shell elements enriched with only the Heaviside step function for discontinuous displacement field. This paper outlines the formulation and numerical results for linear buckling eigenvalue analyses of CFRP stiffened panels with/without cracks obtained by the development codes based on XFEM.
