Abstract
This paper examines the separator plate vibration in wet friction systems. Wet friction systems have been widely applied to diverse machines. Occasionally, noise and vibration occur during an engagement in these systems. Authors had reported that the torsional vibration of the input shaft, in-plane and out-of-plane vibration of separator plate occurred in a developed test apparatus. In this study, separator plate vibration was noticed and investigated in detail. It was clarified in-plane vibration of separator plate was observed as a damped free oscillation during a stick-slip motion of input shaft. From the experimental results, separator plate vibration phenomena were clarified.
