Abstract
It is generally accepted that self-excited vibration in cylindrical grinding caused by the regenerative effect. In this paper, we discuss effect of the work speed variation on the pattern formation with analytically and numerically. The results are follows: A work speed variation affect number of polygon formed on work piece, but it doesn't always depend on its stability. It is clarified a relationship of critical work speed to phase difference from a viewpoint of energies put into the system.
