Recently, blood pressure meters using PWV (Pulse Wave Velocity) method are available in the market. This method is proved to have compatibility to the conventional methods. However, how physical parameters such as blood volumetric flow rate affect PWV is not theoretically explained. In this paper, firstly, we developed the experimental apparatus simulating human circulator system by using silicon tube and examined parameters that affect PWV. Secondly, after mathematically modeling the experimental apparatus, numerical analyses with the model system were carried out and the results were compared with the experimental results. Thirdly, numerical analyses modeling human artery were carried out and the results were compared with the reported PWV with human artery. Then, we affirm the results that the magnitude and the location of the resistance inside the flow channel and pulsating period affect PWV greatly.
