Vibration Tests with large-amplitude sinusoidal excitation was performed for examining the coupling effects between beam vibrations and oval vibrations on a scale model of cylindrical water storage tank, which were classified as fluid-structure coupling vibrations. As a result, any resonance points of beam vibrations disappear from their expected frequency range. The response of the tank did not intensify in proportion to the input acceleration, and moreover, did not go beyond a certain level. The coupling effects were considered to lower the flexural rigidity of the tank, and an analytical model was proposed, whose flexural rigidity depends on the magnitude of the oval vibrations.
