This paper describes an experimental and numerical study of Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction as a pattern formation phenomenon. BZ reaction is known as a chamical reaction where the color of medium changes periodically or colored waves expand from several points on the surface of the medium. This reaction has been studied in relation to the patterns of living creatures since Prigogine stated that it was a typical example of the dissipative structure. Sodium bromate, Maronic acid, Dilute sulfuric acid, and Phenanthroline medium were prepared and chemical patterns were studied under several conditions of concentration. Numerical simulations were also performed using Cellular Automata.
