In this paper, vibration in wet friction systems with paper-based materials as seen in wet clutches in automatic transmissions was investigated experimentally. The experiment was conducted on the condition using two types of lubricants. It was shown that the vibration phenomena depended greatly on the relationship of the friction force to the relative velocity on friction plate that characterize lubricating oils. On one lubricant condition, these characteristics limited the minimum relative velocity during vibration. On another condition, the difference between kinetic and static friction limited the minimum relative velocity. This limit determined the steady-state amplitude.
