In this paper, we propose a design method of the fault detector which detects and isolates the faults of the injection unit. The injection unit has the reaction force sensor, and it is controlled by a speed feedback controller. We construct a residual generator by using an disturbance observer which estimates the reaction force, and we give a fault detection system that utilizes the residual signals. The properties of the transfer functions from the equivalent fault disturbance to the residual signals are analyzed, and the frequency characteristics of the speed control system and that of the reaction force are utilized. The fault detectability is shown by constructing the fault detector. Usefulness of our method is verified by the simulation with the actual parameter values of the injection unit.
