In previous studies, it was shown that neglecting the nonlinearity of sloshing significantly underestimates the magnitude of stresses in the floating roof. This underestimation becomes more significant when the internal resonance is caused. In this paper, influence of the liquid depth on the stresses is investigated. Numerical results show that the stresses become large due to the internal resonance when the ratio of the liquid depth to the tank radius increases. It is illustrated that the internal resonance may be caused by an actual earthquake ground motion as well as sinusoidal excitation.
