This study proposes a nonlinear vibration-response analysis method of cylindrical water storage tanks allowing coupling with the water in the tanks to be considered, and then demonstrates the proposed method can adequately simulate the experimental vibration response of tanks such as oval-type vibration. In addition, Application of the method to numerical experiment for the tanks during large input excitation, which can be hardly conducted by popular experimental equipment, is proposed. From the virtually experimental results, behavior of oval-type vibration and mechanism of occurrence of buckling is discussed.
