Abstract
This research deals with dynamics of dielectric elastomer under a high electric field applied to the elastomer. Taking advantage of this phenomenon, a flexible actuator like artificial muscles is expectable. A bending actuator of cantilever type was considered and the governing equation was derived. From this governing equation, eigenmodes and eigenfrequencies were obtained by using static equilibrium solutions, both with and without D.C. voltage. Under the condition of A.C. voltage applied, a frequency-response curve was obtained by using the method of harmonic balance.
