The non-Gaussian response characteristics of a non-symmetric nonlinear 1-DOF system subjected to non-white excitation are investigated. Applying a previously-developed method, which contains the Non-Gaussian equivalent linearization technique and the use of the moment equations approach, the stationary responses are calculated. Skewness, Kurtosis, and equivalent linear coefficients are demonstrated as the maps of the non-Gaussianity. These show the effects of the non-symmetric properties of the system and the dominant frequencies of excitation upon the non-Gaussian response characteristics. The illustration also shows the relationship between the resonance of the system and the non-Gaussian response.
