This study aims at demonstrating the complex nerve-vessel three-dimensional relationship during the cerebellum tissue deformation due to retraction with brain spatula in the case of microvascular decompression (MVD). Authors developed a new anatomically detailed three-dimensional finite element model for surgery simulation, which includes vessels and nerves, and demonstrates the preoperative vessel-nerve relationship at the root exit zone of the facial nerve (CNVII). Surgery simulation results which will be gained by the use of the developed three-dimensional finite element model, will be used for preoperative planning after being compared with surgical findings.
