We analyzed optimum seat characteristics for sensing system which can detect driver's state. The sensing seat has several necessary characteristics. These includes; 1) no sensing system on the vibration transfer pathway, 2) a posture support structure using tension structure with a buffer which reduces a fore-aft vibration and a sideways motion, 3) a body-side support structure which can support a body trunk with the pelvis, 4) a shear stress structure which can control phase of input vertical vibration at low frequency range, 5) simultaneous exercise both sensing component and the trunk, 6) soft spring characteristics between the sensor and the shear stress structure.
