Abstract

Although bolted joints are widely used to assemble or overhaul machines, structures, etc. readily, an axial force of the bolted joints might decrease when the bolted joints are subjected to a vibration loading or aged deteriorations. The axial force should be properly control because the decrease of the bolted joints' axial force leads to accidents caused by fatigue failures of the bolted joints. Herein a detection method of a bolt axial force of bolted joints is discussed based on an experimental modal analysis.
