On the recent trend of rotor dynamics for rotating machinery, the size of degree of freedom for finite element model is being increased year by year, so the models, whose degrees of freedom are more than 10-mil. , are being used to improve design quality. But because this kind of vibration analysis is not widely used by the problem of tremendous calculation time, e.g. 1-week for 1-run, the calculation time should be reduced for wider application to realize more effective development. Recently for the design usage, some commercial software of finite element analysis have equipped a special option of automated multi-level substructuring solver, which has been mainly used in automotive companies, but its theory and verification may not be opened enough for better understanding of the users. On this paper, so as to reduce calculation time of the large-sized rotor dynamics, parallel computing, in which multi-level mode synthesis is adopted, has been investigated and applied to the sample of rotor with stand by using commercial software. As the result, much improvement of reducing calculation time has been confirmed with keeping good accuracy for eigenvalue and model frequency response analysis.
