This paper describes the framework and methodology of co-creative artifactual engineering. Firstly, definition of co-creation in the framework is presented, and the research activity in the division of co-creation engineering in RACE (Research into Artifacts, Center for Engineering) is shown. Then, the emergent synthesis where emergence is employed as a key concept to synthesize artifactual systems properly is explained. The emergent synthesis is a promiising method to realize co-creation among humans and artifacts. Finally, the co-creative artifactual engineering framework using emergent synthesis methodologies is described. An example of studies in co-creative artifactual engineering, market microstructure based modeling of recycle market, is also given.
