Abstract
An effect of woven architecture with spread tow of FRP on vibration damping properties has been investigated. To obtain the material damping of woven fabric composites, the material vibration damping models were formulated with strain energy method and finite element method, By using this simulation method, finite element analyses have been carried out to estimate the effect of spread tow on vibration properties. The results show that the modal damping ratio of torsion vibration mode is higher than bending vibration mode. Furthermore, it was recognized that spread tow woven fabric composites might actually induce better performance of material damping in bending vibration mode.
