Abstract
The post-buckling deflection behaviour of non-shallow caps under external pressure is quite different from that of the shallow ones. In this paper, an alternative new technique is proposed for obtaining physically rational solution of the complicated post-buckling large deflection behaviour in relatively high-rise shell buckling problems. Using the initial imperfection modes opened on the net, the present non-linear mixed finite element computational results are shown to be in good agreement with the previous experimental observation.
