For pursing a low-carbon society, a variety of new products, such as photovoltaic (PV) systems and clean energy vehicles (CEVs), have been introduced to electricity networks. While the dissemination of such energy-saving products will affect electricity networks, it is difficult to predict to what extent those products will be disseminated in our society. To explore how future electricity networks might unfold, this paper describes future scenarios of regional electricity networks, focusing on the residential and commercial sectors. For developing these scenarios we develop simulation models that estimate the diffusion of PV systems and CEVs, regional electricity demand, and the effects of peak-cut of electric load using electric vehicles as storage batteries, respectively. As a case study, several scenarios of regional electricity networks in Toyonaka City, Osaka, Japan in 2030 are described. The simulation results show that the peak of electric load in the residential and commercial sectors can be reduced to 68-70% by the electricity management.
