In the development process of automotive doors, sensory analysis is performed to assess sensory characteristics such as damping, strength and heaviness. Subjects of this experiment are told to press on different automotive doors and evaluate sensory characteristics such as sound and sensation transmitted to the hand. The main problem is participants' sensory judgments are subjective and vague, making it difficult to specify and quantify data required to improve doors. Thus, it is necessary to relate to the quantitative characteristics of the sensory characteristics. In this report, sensory analysis was carried out by the paired comparison semantic differential method. In addition, the factor analysis is applied to evaluate and classify sensory characteristics. It is found that factors regarding to hollowness, shakiness, repulsion, ease of press and flexibility are dominant factors. Then, the pressing forces on the steel sheet, displacement and deformation sound are measured to analyze the quantitative characteristics. Here we found that the factor regarding to hollowness correlates with the pushing load, and the factors regarding to shakiness correlates with the thrusting velocity.
