Abstract

The height of cockpits of large bulldozers are normally more than two meters. Operators need to go up and down the bulldozer by utilizing the tiny steps, crawlers or handrails on the frame of the body. Its space is too narrow for the operators to go up and down safely. In order to overcome these safety issues, a number of lifting devices have been presented. However, they have some problems with durability and designability. Brand new and innovative lifting devices which can overcome these difficulties are required. In this paper, we try to generate new ideas of lifting devices by using the knowledge and the frameworks of design engineering. After generating ideas, we make three dimensional models for each idea and decide one idea we finally propose based on the result of CAE analysis.
