The quantity of piping, air conditioning ducts, cable trays in a Nuclear Power Plant is extremely large and currently takes a huge amount of time and cost to plan for the layout. In order to efficiently do the work, Hitachi is developing the AI Automatic Design System, that automatically designs the route of piping, air conditioning ducts, and cable trays in 3D model of an actual plant. The AI Automatic Design System enables automated design even with a small amount of learning data by applying a hybrid method that combines a program-based design rules, a route search program by Genetic Algorithm (GA), and AI by deep learning. Hitachi also studied the automatic mutual arrangement of piping, air conditioning ducts and cable trays to reduce the work of adjusting its arrangement. As a result, by using the system in the actual plant model, it was confirmed that the piping, air conditioning ducts, and cable trays were properly arranged according to the design rules. It is confirmed that applying AI Automatic Design System to actual plant model is possible.
