Idea generation for climate change adaptation using design fiction

Abstract

The frequency of extreme weather and large-scale disasters around the world are increasing caused by climate change. Climate change adaptation is a way to adapt to future climate change, but due to the difficulty of predicting the future affection in long-term, it is limited to proposing extensions of existing approaches, and few novel and effective approaches have been proposed. Idea generation methods are considered effective for such problems, but most methods are not effective when the problem setting itself is ambiguous. In this study, we tried to experiment with design fiction for idea generation for climate change adaptation measures.
