Elevator systems of high-rise office buildings have been planned to provide adequate handling capacity enough to transport the morning up-peak traffic. However, according to the recent studies about the traffic of modern office buildings, it becomes clear that the two-way traffic of lunch time is often the most severe test of elevators. Because, it contains 45% incoming traffic, 45% outgoing traffic and 10% inter-floor traffic and it is not unusual for the incoming and outgoing traffic at lunch time to be of the same order of magnitude as the incoming traffic in the morning up-peak. Accordingly, elevator systems planned by present manner do not have enough handling capacity for the lunch time traffic. Because of the shortage of handling capacity at lunch time, conventional group control systems make many passengers left behind, and the average waiting time becomes unacceptably long. Elevator system comprised of a conventional group control system servng upward traffic and a conventional group control system serving downward traffic can improve the average waiting time. But, it is too expensive and is a waste of space and energy. Consequently, An elevator system of high-rise office building should be planned by utilizing the complex group control system. Moreover, It can be a platform of elevator system planning, because it can be optimal for requirements by adjusting the size of serving sectors. Furthermore, since it consists of jam-free elevators, it can be a safer alternative of an evacuation stair for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
