We modeled fluid piping systems with a syringe pump to investigate flow characteristics such as an overshoot of a total volume passed through a nozzle exit. In our flow simulator, elastic deformation of resin pipes and the volume change of air were considered to simulate flow oscillation. Simulation was done with internal nozzle diameter ranged from 0.1 to 1.0 mm and fluid viscosity ranged from 0.5 to 3.0 mPa.s. The overshoot increases with the decreasing resistance of pipe flow because fluid inertia causes the overshoot after the pump operation is stopped. We obtained that the overshoot increased with increasing the nozzle diameter at high viscosity. At low viscosity, however, the largest overshoot occurred at the nozzle diameter of around 0.5 mm because flow oscillation induced at the start time of the pump operation did not settle at a plateau and influenced on the overshoot.
