Abstract
The paper presents the computational techniques concerning with Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM),which were developed to aim for its engineering applications, and demonstrates the validity of those techniques in a direct numerical simulation of turbulent flow around an airfoil. In the present simulation, solid boundaries with arbitrary shaped geometries were treated as immersed boundary. To make the grid size near the body as small as possible while preventing a great increase in the total number of grid points, the grid was efficiently arranged using the Building-Cube Method(BCM) by dividing the computational domain into multiple blocks with various grid sizes Besides, the Multi-scale model was introduced to allow the calculation on such grids. Thanks to the introduction of above techniques, the LBM can calculate flow and acoustic fields around arbitrary shaped bodies, while still retaining its advantages such as simple algorithm and straightforward to parallelize.
