Abstract
Recently, Solar energy attracts much attention as a clean energy resource due to the increasing environmental concerns of human being. CO2 is attractive as a working fluid instead of R134a, because GWP of CO2 is much less than of R134a. Solar CO2 Rankine System (SCRS) has been proposed by one of the authors, which can generate electrical and thermal energy by using solar energy as an energy resource and carbon dioxide as a working fluid. In order to optimize the SCRS, it is significantly important to investigate the performance of the turbine under the supercritical state of CO2. In the present study, the turbine was made by our laboratory taking into consideration the effect of the supercritical CO2. From the experimental results, it was found that the stable operation of the turbine was possible. And, the mass flow rate and the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the turbine affected to the performance.
