Magnetic fluid is a colloidal solution in which magnetic particles adsorbed by a surfactant are dispersed in a base liquid. When a magnetic field is applied to a magnetic fluid, magnetic particles coagulate and form chain-like clusters. Because the chain-like clusters largely influences on the physical property of magnetic fluid, quantitative evaluation of the inner structure is required for magnetic fluid applications. In this study, we attempted to evaluate quantitatively the inner structure of magnetic fluid by using a maximum bubble pressure. When the magnetic field is applied to magnetic fluid, the maximum bubble pressure becomes large because of generation of chain-like clusters. After that, as the bubbles continue to be generated, maximum bubble pressure gradually decreases with elapsed time because the chain-like clusters are broken down by the generated bubble. This seems that the time series variation of the maximum bubble pressure tracks the process of breakdown of the inner structure of the magnetic fluid.
