Abstract

An experimental study was conducted for an elastic fin plate having a complicated shape in the fluid at rest. The plate was oscillated at constant amplitude and frequency in the direction normal to its plane. The flow field around the plate was measured. The forcing frequency is 3.4 Hz, that is resonant frequency of the plate in the water at rest. The result shows that a reverse Karman vortex street is shed from the tip of the chord in the wake on the center plane, but we could not observe the strong vortex shed from the thip of the chord on another plane. There is some requirements to do the PIV measurement on more other planes to clear the flow structure.
